Young medics trip promotes careers in health

A group of Year 12 students last week visited Elekta, a radiography and cancer care innovation company in Crawley, to learn more about radiography as a career and about working in the medical field in general.

The trip was arranged to mark British Science Week and to promote careers in STEM. A fascinating day enabled students to enjoy a career pathway discussion with radiographers who are currently working in the profession and Elekta staff who were once practising radiographers. The day also included the opportunity to spend time in Elekta’s focus studio and broadcast studio.

In the afternoon there was a factory tour and then an interactive workshop where students were divided into groups and asked to design their own patient treatment system. Congratulations to one of our students who was part of the group whose design was voted as the winner.

Every year pupils at Worth take part in a wide variety of educational trips and visits, both in this country and overseas.
