Worth’s qualities praised by inspectors

Worth School

Worth’s quality of education, the balance offered by our co-curricular programme, boarding provision and strong ethos were among the areas highlighted following our Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) Inspection in December.

Pupils’ development and wellbeing, along with their sense of social awareness, also ranked highly in an extremely positive report by inspectors.

The accolade ‘highly effective’ was given to the ‘leadership of boarding’ as well as the ‘management of boarding’; these are significant achievements in which we can all take pride as a community – day pupils and boarders alike – as ultimately, they underpin the vibrant, inclusive spirit and well-run nature of the School which was the basis on which Worth was recently judged Boarding School of the Year at the Independent Schools of the Year awards.

It was also heartening to hear inspectors share, in their verbal feedback, how clearly visible the Worth values were to them during their visit and how much they enjoyed meeting our pupils.

In terms of the quality of education, inspectors said: “Leaders provide a wide and engaging curriculum that meets the needs and aptitudes of pupils” and “teachers use their expert subject knowledge to deliver lessons that develop pupils’ own subject knowledge and skills well and develop their interest in the subjects”.

Other highlights in the findings included:

  • “Through PHSE and religious studies, pupils are taught about a wide range of faiths and belief systems”
  • “Weekly collective worship, House prayers and Sunday Mass offer pupils time and space for private reflection”
  • “Through the Wednesday afternoon community service programme, pupils help run drama sessions in local primary schools and visit the elderly. Others arrange the collection of clothes and food for the homeless” and “pupils engage in fundraising for charities such as the local hospice and CAFOD”
