Former Worth student Joshi Herrmann is playing a key role in keeping London informed after launching The Londoner, a new newspaper delivered via email and covering the best stories in the capital.
Joshi was at Farwell House while at Worth, leaving in 2007 and going to Cambridge University. Leaving with a History degree, he became a features writer on London’s Evening Standard. In 2020 he successfully launched The Mill in Manchester, going on to launch other award-winning online publications in Sheffield, Liverpool and Birmingham.
He has now founded The Londoner. This is particularly poignant as the renamed London Standard has been reduced to a weekly freesheet from its heady days as London’s leading printed daily.
On its launch day The Londoner published an investigation into an MP that was mentioned by the Prime Minister. In addition to hard-hitting articles, such as why the Elizabeth Line is underperforming or why London is not building enough family homes, there are also recommendations for things to do and see in the city.
Joshi told us: “I’m so pleased to be launching The Londoner to provide really high-quality journalism about the capital. Having begun my career at the Evening Standard it’s been sad to see its demise in recent years.”
Worth Society is the School’s thriving alumni association that enables former pupils and staff to stay in touch with one another for business and social networking purposes, providing careers advice, support and lifelong guidance.
Worth likes to keep in touch with former students and regularly runs stories about their progress.
