Many congratulations to the Worth senior debating team which won the Rotary Youth Speaks competition at East Grinstead last week and will now progress to the regional semi-finals in February.
Head of English Mrs Dawn Clubb, who runs the Debating Society at Worth, described the team as “stunning” in the way they debated the motion ‘This House believes social media companies should act to stop misinformation’.
Worth also fielded an intermediate team at the event, run by Meridian Rotary, and they were also excellent in how they performed, although they did not win on the evening. The competition was held at St Swithun’s Church, East Grinstead.
Worth has a strong reputation for debating following a number of successes, including winning a national competition, the Ethics Cup, in May 2022. This Friday evening there will be a Worth Invitational Debate where current students will take on Old Worthians in a competition which will be judged by alumni including a King’s Counsel.
