Worth Maths teacher Mrs Jayne Dempster will be marking a significant birthday in April by doing a tandem skydive to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association in memory of a former colleague.
Fellow Maths teacher Mr Gordon Perera was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in February 2018 and continued to work at Worth until his death in September 2020. Mrs Dempster said: “There are people you meet in life who you know you will never forget. I only knew Gordon for three years, but his positivity and gratitude will live with me for ever.
“Gordon continued to teach Maths at Worth School (following his diagnosis), but he did so much more. He inspired everyone at school to see the world in a different way, to accept challenges that life throws at you, to be thankful and to be your best possible self. MND could not diminish his incredible sense of humour and he was always concerned about the welfare of others.”
Mrs Dempster has been given the go-ahead to do her skydive on 9 April in Salisbury. If you feel you are able to sponsor her, please go to: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/jayne-dempster
