Our annual Worth Musician of the Year final was a high-calibre affair which provided the perfect showcase for music at Worth.

Visiting adjudicator Adam Barker, who is conductor of the West Sussex Youth Orchestra, talked about the “wonderful performances” of the “four fantastic finalists” before announcing Year 11 cellist Charlotte Wong as the 2023 Worth Musician of the Year.

The final featured two cellists, a violinist and a percussionist. Charlotte played Adagio-moderato (first movement from Cello Concerto) by Edward Elgar. Mr Barker, who trained at the Royal College of Music, said Charlotte had delivered “a captivating performance” with “a beautiful range of colours and tone” and “great storytelling”.

Fellow cellist Jessica H was named as runner-up but congratulations to all four finalists who performed superbly and gave Mr Barker an incredibly hard decision to make.
