Worth School

Music thrives at Worth and we are looking forward to holding two big musical events in the Abbey Church this month.

On Thursday this week our Schola Cantorum will give their annual performance of Gabriel Fauré’s much loved Requiem. Then on Thursday 27 November we will hold our termly Ensembles Concert, with both events starting in the Abbey Church from 7.45pm. Everyone is welcome.

Throughout the academic year our Music department hosts termly ensembles concerts, an annual scholars’ concert, a series of informal concerts, the annual Worth Musician of the Year competition, House Music, which is held in two parts and gives all students an opportunity to sing, termly open mic events and also collaborates with the Drama department on school musicals.

In addition, the Schola Cantorum sings Evensong at Chichester Cathedral each year, last April they sang Mass at Westminster Cathedral and in the summer there was a choir, orchestra and bands tour to Lake Garda which included three open-air concerts.

The main school choir has had a long tradition of members being part of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and has had among its members multiple former choristers of Westminster Cathedral in recent years.
