Worth celebrates outstanding GCSE results 2026

Worth School is celebrating another year of impressive GCSE results, with pupils achieving strong outcomes across the full range of subjects. Overall, 40% of GCSEs were awarded at grades 9-8 (A*), 58% at grades 9-7 (A*-A) and 96% at grades 9-4 (A*-C). More than two-thirds of all GCSEs in a broad range of subjects, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English Literature, History, Art and Drama, were awarded at grades 9-7.

Many individual pupils have achieved exceptional results. 33% of pupils averaged a grade 8 (A*) or higher across their GCSE subjects, with several securing between eight and 10 grade 9s. 57% of pupils averaged a grade 7 (A) or above across their subjects.

At Worth School, in keeping with our inclusive pupil intake and Benedictine Catholic ethos, Value Added scores are celebrated as much as absolute grades. Value-Add measures the extent to which pupils exceed the grades predicted for them by baseline assessment data. Most GCSE grades this year reflect a Value-Add of more than one complete grade, with a whole-cohort average of +0.83 grades. Eighteen pupils achieved a remarkable average Value-Add score of more than two complete grades across all their GCSE subjects.

There are exceptional individual achievements throughout the year group, but what is particularly pleasing is the strength of performance across the cohort as a whole. These results reflect the hard work, determination and ambition of our pupils, supported by talented and dedicated teaching and pastoral staff. We are delighted to see so many pupils rewarded for their efforts and look forward to seeing them flourish in the Sixth Form.”

Many students have exceeded their own expectations and now move on to our Sixth Form and to A Levels, IB or BTECs with real confidence.
