Worth offers individualised guidance and support for university entrance to universities across the globe and Sixth Form tutors are chosen especially for their expertise in this process. In addition, we offer guidance for work experience using our excellent alumni network, as well as support into degree apprenticeships and art colleges.
Worth students have a strong tradition of entrance to the most competitive universities in the UK and Europe, Canada and the USA. However, we recognise that no two students are the same and that assumptions should never be made. We operate our own metric of success which does not simply involve statistics about entrance to only the most traditional UK universities – we understand that there is so much more to success than this. Worth instead offers an individualised preparation programme which is overseen by a subject specialist from the relevant department. Support may include talks by current university students, extra reading and classes, debates, mock interviews and practice papers.
Sixth Form students have access to expert advice about how their university and higher education choices will best aid successful careers and fulfilling lives at university and beyond. The Careers team organises speakers and events designed to put students in touch with the world of work and higher education. Work placements, internships and mentoring are organised by Worth Society, the alumni association, and students are encouraged to attend careers events, each with a specific career focus, and the UCAS discovery fair in the spring of Year 12. Worth’s own Careers Fair brings together a range of professionals who talk to small groups of Year 12 students about their field of experience and expertise.
Mr Matthew Doggett, Assistant Head (Sixth Form), leads on support and help regarding university preparation, while our Careers team is headed by Mr Paul Harrison.
