Worth teams impressed at the Howden Rosslyn Park National Rugby Sevens tournament, with the U18 boys topping their group before being eliminated out in the knockout stages while the U18 girls and U16 boys both enjoyed good days.

The 1st VII boys enjoyed three wins from three in their group, beating St George’s International School 52-0, Uppingham School 21-12 and Ysgol Gymraeg Ystalyfera 26-5. However, they were defeated in the elimination rounds by a strong Clifton College side.

For the 1st VII girls, this was expected to be a learning experience as the squad included many girls relatively new to the sport but this was a successful day. After a tough opening fixture, they won their next two matches, beating Stamford 29-15 and Queen Mary’s College, Basingstoke, 24-21, before running out of steam in their final game.

The U16 boys also lost their first game but fought back well to defeat The Grange School, Northwich, 36-0 and group winners RGS, Guildford, 14-12.

Our two younger teams had tougher days but the U14 boys enjoyed their 21-19 win over Forres Sandle Manor School which meant they missed out on second place in the group on points difference.
