Many congratulations to former Worth student Dr Matthew Knight who has been awarded an MBE in The Queen’s 2020 Birthday Honours for his extraordinary work during the pandemic.
Matthew, a respiratory medicine consultant at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust, designed and delivered a ‘virtual hospital’ treating Covid-19 patients at home, saving hundreds of hospital admissions. He led a team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and admin staff, some of whom were shielding, to safely prevent and reduce hospital admissions through the virtual monitoring of patients’ symptoms.
The virtual hospital is a first of its kind model which can be expanded to cover other illnesses and conditions.
Matthew was in Chapman House, leaving in 1998. This is a hugely well-deserved honour.
The Worth Society is the School's thriving alumni association that enables former pupils and staff to stay in touch with one another for business and social networking purposes, as well as providing careers advice, support and lifelong guidance. For more information, click here.
