These are the latest pictures of children at a school in Liberia which Worth has been supporting for the last six years through the charity Mary’s Meals.
Worth first established a relationship with the Farsee Korma Public School, in Cape Mount, Liberia, in 2017 and our fundraising has ensured every child has a meal every day they attend school.
Mary’s Meals works in some of the poorest countries in the world, feeding 2,429,182 children worldwide every day thanks to fundraisers like ourselves. The promise of a good meal attracts these hungry children into the classroom, giving them the energy to learn and hope for a better future.
Jesu, 15, who is shown in of our pictures, said: “I feel bad when I have not eaten Mary’s Meals because I don’t eat at home. When the teacher is writing my attention cannot be there. After eating, I feel very fine. I choose to come to school because I want to learn so that I can get a good job in the future and help my parents.”
During the last 12 months, Worth has also been supporting a second school through Mary’s Meals, Mwandakwisano School in Zambia, where there are 376 children currently enrolled.
Mary’s Meals is one of Worth’s flagship charities. It costs £19.15 to feed a child for a whole school year and Worth raises money for the charity – and specifically our chosen schools – through a variety of initiatives including student-led fundraising such as a home clothes day, collections at the Christmas Carol Service and Speech Day, through Mary’s Meals being the House charity of St Mary’s in 2022-23 and through individual donations.
Thank you to everyone who has helped put smiles on the faces of these children.
