A group of Worth students have set up an Eco Club with the aim to make realistic but positive change at the School.
There are currently six students in Eco Club, which meets during lunch break on the first Monday of each month, although they are hoping to grow in numbers. The club is entirely pupil-led with the mission to create a more eco-friendly environment.
Their first idea, which is soon to be implemented, is getting recycling bins put in useful locations around the School with clear signs of what can be put in them. The group put a proposal together for this initiative before presenting it to the School for consideration.
Year 11 student Cosi, who is part of Eco Club, said: “We are talking about other ideas, such as reducing any single use plastic that is currently being used. It is all about little things that we can do to improve the school.
“It feels so good to be doing this and not because it is something we are told to do but because we want to do it. We really care about the environment and there are lots of little things that can be done. We are trying to make a difference in the world.”
It is hoped more students will step forward to be part of the group and contribute ideas.
