Sixth Form students delved deeper into chemistry with a series of lectures and discussions at a Chemistry in Action event at the Emmanuel Centre in London.

The day was designed to help Year 12 students take key concepts learnt in the classroom to the next stage by hearing about the latest advancements in chemical research.

Among the particularly interesting talks were nuclear scientist and author Dr Tim Gregory talking about how nuclear science is at the heart of tackling some of today’s most pressing global challenges and Rianne Lord from the University of Warwick discussing ‘The Role of Metals in Modern Medicine’.

There were further talks from Dr Michael Sulu, lecturer in Biochemical Engineering at University College London, and Dr Alex Baker from University of Warwick, while there was also a panel discussion with three chemistry professionals talking about careers.

The day also included a special session on exam success, giving students practical tools and tips to help them excel.

Worth runs a number of trips throughout the year which support academic learning.
