Students celebrate at Buckingham Palace

Fri, May 16th, 2025
Worth School

Current and former Worth students were at Buckingham Palace with Prince Edward this week to celebrate completing their Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award.

Four current students were joined by 2024 Year 13 leavers at the celebration, which was one of four that took place over two days at the Palace to recognise more than 8,000 young people who have shown perseverance and creativity to complete their Gold Award.

Further Worth students will get the opportunity to go to the Palace to celebrate completing their Gold Awards in the coming months.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a challenging programme of personal development and is recognised by universities and organisations around the world.

Worth is a licenced DofE centre and each year runs an active Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme for the Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. We are proud to have the highest achievement rate among independent schools in the South East region.

Students currently working towards their Gold Award will take part in a qualifying expedition to Dartmoor next week.

Mr Julian Williams, who has overseen our highly successful DofE programme for many years, was able to join students at Buckingham Palace on Monday.

Congratulations to all past and presents students who were at Buckingham Palace on Monday.
