One Year 12 student and four former Worth pupils are currently taking part in the #RunforRuth challenge by running the equivalent of a marathon to raise awareness and funds for research into non-smoking related lung cancer and support for families who have lost a loved one to this disease.
Elliott Martin-Drew, who is in Farwell, is being joined by his sister Elizabeth and three other former Worth pupils – Tristan Alford, Nathanael Alford and Philipp Brenninkmeijer – in running two miles a day in the first 13 days of May to make a total of 26 miles. The #RunforRuth challenge was launched in memory of Ruth Strauss, wife of former England cricket captain Sir Andrew Strauss. Early in 2018, Ruth was diagnosed with an incurable lung cancer that affects non-smokers. She died later that year at the age of 46, leaving two children, then aged 10 and 13.
