Congratulations to Year 12 student Anna Partyka who has reached the national finals of the British Brain Bee competition, which is an international neuroscience competition for young people aged 14 to 19.

Places in the national finals are only offered to the top 50 participants in this online test, so this is an excellent achievement. Anna will now take part in the finals at Brunel University, London, on Saturday 3 February.

Currently there are more than 60 nations and 50,000 students engaged in this annual competition, which is judged by neuroscientists. The aim of the competition is to motivate young people to study the brain, to spark their curiosity and ultimately to inspire them to pursue a career in neuroscience, contributing to the world of research and to the potential discovery of cures for neurodegenerative disorders, as well as for disorders of the mind and mood.

Well done to Anna and good luck for the finals.
