Professional actor Layton Williams visited Worth last week to deliver a masterclass workshop and Q&A session for Drama students.
Layton Williams first rose to fame at the age of 12 with the title role in Billy Elliot the Musical. He has since gone on to cement his reputation as one of the rising stars of stage and screen by playing the lead role in the hit musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie in the Apollo Theatre in London’s West End and as Stephen Carmichael in the BBC comedy Bad Education.
It was a fabulous experience for Drama students at Worth to spend a couple of hours with Layton last Wednesday. Describing Worth as a “stunning” school, he opened with a Q&A session where he talked about experiences in his career to date and passed on acting tips, as well as telling students to “give everything 100%”. He then delivered a workshop where he taught the students some moves from Hairspray, which is another show he has been involved in.
Worth’s next big show is the Middle School of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe from 22-24 March. The School normally has three big shows a year and the Worth Drama provision is widely regarded to be outstanding.
