Community
St Mary’s is the girls’ boarding house at Worth, for girls in Years 9 to 13 (ages 13 to 18). It is home to more than 80 girls. Flexi boarding is now offered, subject to availability, for girls in Year 9 onwards.
It boasts a large and dedicated pastoral team which includes Housemistress Miss Ellie Ross (pictured), who is supported by two deputies, Miss Stephanie Dawes with special responsibility for Sixth Form girls and Miss Lizzy Longstaff with special responsibility for Middle School girls (Years 9-11).
They are further supported by two matrons in Mrs Nikki Webb and Mrs Jayne Summerfield and two Boarding Tutors, Mrs Tola Abbiw with special responsibility for Sixth Form girls and Miss Taya Davidson with special responsibility for Middle School girls. The tutor team includes Mrs Frances Baily (Year 9), Miss Longstaff (Year 10), Miss Davidson (Year 11), Mrs Abbiw and Mr John Everest (Year 12), Miss Dawes, Mrs Dawn Clubb and Ms Isabel del Valle (Year 13).
St Mary’s has a strong, friendly, family atmosphere in which each girl has the opportunity to develop a sense of belonging and identity through community, worship, hospitality and service founded in the Benedictine tradition. Every girl has a part to play: whether collecting bread or organising fundraising, every individual is a valued part of a larger community, with a caring and supportive atmosphere across all year groups.
St Mary’s, situated with beautiful views of the South Downs, offers excellent facilities for the girls with every bedroom having its own en suite bathroom. Bedrooms for Years 9 to 11 are for two girls. Sixth Form girls would normally have single rooms, although some Year 12 girls may also share a double, all with en suite bathrooms. There is a modern and bright study area downstairs and a wonderfully spacious common room for the girls to socialise in.
