Celebrating all areas of academic life, Speech Day provided a wonderful opportunity for the Worth community to come together and reflect on another successful year for the School.
Speech Day is traditionally the highlight of the academic year at Worth and this year did not disappoint as pupils, families and staff enjoyed glorious weather, uplifting speeches and then picnics on the lawn in the afternoon.
Guest speaker Alexander McLean, representing the charity Justice Defenders, delivered a powerful speech about his life and work. The morning formalities also included speeches from the Head Master, Head Boy and Head Girl, as well as the presentation of Year 13 academic prizes and ties to the new prefects.
After coffee in a grand marquee in the Front Quad, there was midday Mass in the Abbey Church. The afternoon was a more informal affair with the chance to enjoy picnics or sample something delicious from one of the many food stalls. There were also Music and Drama performances, an art exhibition, a Design and Technology exhibition, a photography exhibition and a ‘Posh Frocks’ charity dress sale.
Thank you to all families for joining us and making it a special day.
Here is a selection of pictures from professional photographer Liz Finlayson of Vervate Photography. More pictures from the day will be shared in the coming days.
