Former England cricket captain Sir Alastair Cook took time out of his busy schedule to hold a question and answer session with Worth students today.
Sir Alastair, who is the fifth highest Test run scorer of all time, joined boys and girls from different year groups for an online session where he answered questions put forward by our students. Among the questions posed were: ‘Many people dream of being the England cricket captain. What qualities do you think are necessary in a good leader?’; ‘As an opening batsman, mentally how did you prepare yourself before a Test match and how did it differ when you were playing the short form of the game?’; ‘If there is one thing you would change or do differently in your career what would it be?’; and ‘Were you ever terrified to face a certain bowler?’.
Sir Alastair was excellent as he answered questions openly and with real insight, and it was a wonderful experience for our students. Thank you to Grays International, suppliers of sports equipment to the School, for their part in facilitating this.
Worth is proud of its cricket provision which includes high standards of coaching, two academies where the skills of elite players are developed, eight representative teams providing opportunities for all, excellent facilities and a challenging fixtures programme.
