Our youngest pupils had great fun taking part in a series of activities to celebrate World Book Day last Thursday.
World Book Day is an annual celebration in more than 100 countries across the world promoting reading and writing.
Pupils in Years 7 and 8 began the day with an assembly where they introduced World Book Day to their peers before performing a song, a rap and reading a poem. They also organised a scavenger hunt for breaktime, a quiz on different books, a selection of word searches and a character design activity at lunchtime. At afternoon break, they took part in a session with Kahoot!, a game-based learning platform.
Longer term initiatives launched on World Book Day for Years 7 and 8 included a writing competition and an Easter reading challenge.
