Worth School

Many congratulations to our Senior golf team for reaching the national finals of the Independent Schools Golf Association Team Matchplay Tournament.

The Worth School team of Yago, Friedrich and Juan beat Eastbourne College 2-1 in the regional final at Willingdon Golf Club to claim a place in the national finals among the last 20 schools in the country. The standard of golf was exceptionally high with all players being low single figure handicap golfers. Yago came up against a strong opponent and was unable to secure a win in his match but Friedrich continued his excellent form to win 3 and 1. The outstanding performance of the day came from Juan who shot a round of 74 and won his match 9 and 7 to secure overall victory.

The ISGA national finals will be held at Worsley Park in Manchester on 15 June.

Worth School has its own golf course on the campus and a growing interest in the sport is being reflected in the coaching opportunities being made available to pupils, whatever their level of ability from beginner to more experienced players. This includes the Performance Golf Squad, which offers a high-level of coaching in a link-up with a Tilgate Forest Golf Centre.
