Worth academic staff are experts in their field – and they have many other talents too, as a member of the Modern Foreign Languages department has shown by finishing second in the world in an international cycling competition.
Ms Sabina Hickmet, who is a French teaching assistant, represented Great Britain in the UCI Gran Fondo World Series finals in the Italian Dolomites, starting from and ending in Trento. The 55-mile race covered 8,000ft of climbing steep mountains, so it was extremely challenging.
Ms Hickmet was hoping for a top 10 placing, having trained hard throughout the summer holidays, so she was absolutely delighted to claim a silver medal by finishing second in the world in her age group and the only Briton out of 20 categories to get a podium finish.
Congratulations Ms Hickmet.
