Our 1st XV rugby boys go for glory in the quarter-final of the National Vase tomorrow and they have been told to “enjoy every second of it” by the captain of the last Worth team to reach such heights in the competition.
Worth hosts The King’s School, Gloucester, in the last eight of the competition at Horsham Rugby Club tomorrow afternoon (2pm). They go into the game unbeaten this term with a remarkable record of 13 wins and one draw from 14 matches and whatever the result tomorrow they can be proud of their achievements.
The last time Worth reached the quarter-finals of the National Vase was the 2013-14 academic year, when they were captained by James Kemp, who is now a History teacher at the School. On that occasion Worth boys were narrowly beaten 28-27 by Exeter College who went on to reach the final at Twickenham.
Mr Kemp said: “I have fantastic memories of the 2013-14 season, especially the cup run. We came so close to reaching the semi-finals but the day itself will stay with me forever.
“My advice to the current team would be to enjoy every second of it and go into the game and express yourselves. There is a reason you have had the success so far so back yourselves and leave everything out on the pitch. Good luck!”
Best wishes to our 1st XV boys ahead of tomorrow’s game.
