Year 7 pupils spent a day expanding their knowledge about rivers when they went on a Geography field trip to Juniper Hall Field Study Centre in Surrey.

Juniper Hall offers field work and outdoor learning opportunities, and the trip supported the children’s classroom studies of rivers which has included looking at the physical processes and human impacts of a river from source to mouth.

The pupils explored the River Tillingbourne, which runs along the south side of the North Downs, studying different elements of the river by looking at velocity, shape and size of the river channel and how this changes downstream. They worked in small groups to collect lots of data at three points along the river and then compared the data back in the classroom.

Every year pupils at Worth take part in a wide variety of educational trips and visits to support their studies.
