Worth School is extremely proud of former 1st XV rugby player Tate Williams who won three caps for England in this year’s U20 Six Nations Championship.

After winning his first cap as a replacement against Ireland, Tate made his first start for England U20 when he played 71 minutes in a 37-17 victory over Italy in Treviso.

Then on Sunday Tate drew wide praise for his performance when he featured for 79 minutes as England fought back from 21 points down before eventually losing 31-28 to Grand Slam champions France in La Rochelle.

It has been a memorable few months for Tate as he made his 1st XV debut for Harlequins earlier this season. His next target will be to be part of the England squad for the Junior World Championships in Georgia from 27 June to 18 July.

Tate’s former Worth team-mate Felix Bateman-Champain also continues to do well. Having been named in Scotland’s squad for the U20 Six Nations Championship, Felix started as full-back for Harlequins U19s as they beat the Japan U19 national team 38-36 at The Stoop yesterday evening.

Worth has a proud history of rugby, which has been an integral part of our set-up since the establishment of the senior school in 1959. Former student Nick Walshe won two full caps for England during a tour to Australia in 2006 while Tom Mitchell captained England Students and Great Britain Students in the 15-a-side game, before switching to rugby sevens and going on to captain Great Britain to a silver medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016. He also skippered Great Britain at the Tokyo Games in 2021.
