An outstanding achievement

Worth School

An excellent set of results for Worth students in this year’s IB examinations included one, Sophia Rekers, claiming the maximum points score of 45.

Only 1% of students globally achieve a maximum score which is the equivalent of five A* grades at A Level. Many congratulations to Sophia for this outstanding achievement and to all our students for this year’s results.

We asked Sophia how she felt when she received her results, how Worth had helped her and what she is planning to do next.

How did you feel when you got your results?

Sophia: I was filled with a mixture of disbelief and satisfaction. On one hand I couldn’t quite wrap my head around the numbers on the screen. On the other, I knew I had worked very hard throughout the two years. It felt amazing to know that the work had paid off and I got the result I always strived towards.

How did Worth help you achieve those results?

Sophia: The subject teachers and academic coordinators supported our entire year group tirelessly, from choosing the right subjects to continuous enthusiasm and commitment during online learning. We worked towards our IB Diplomas mostly during lockdowns, learning from home, a challenge which the School recognised and treated accordingly.

How much have you enjoyed your time at Worth?

Sophia: Very much so. Of course, Covid-19 cast a shadow over our Sixth Form experience but that was remedied by the IB summer programme, where we got to enjoy time with our friends and the beautiful grounds one more time without having to worry about academic work and exams.

What are you hoping to do beyond Worth?

Sophia: I am going to study Computing at Imperial College London with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. In the future, I hope to work in software development as an AI specialist.
