An officer from Sussex Police gave an informative and interactive talk to Year 7 pupils last week about online safety.
PC Samuel Trichband spoke to pupils as part of the PSHE curriculum, while the talk also coincided with National Bullying Week.
The aim of the talk was to discuss the positive and negative sides of being online and using social media. Many topics were covered including the risks of being online, image sharing, screen shots, automatic saving of images, the dangers of typing rather than face to face interaction and misinterpreting written messages. PC Trichband also talked about thinking before you type, group chats, only being connected with people you know and trust, not giving out personal information and a brief mention of asking for, taking and sharing indecent images.
PC Trichband was delighted with how knowledgeable and engaged our pupils were with the talk.
