Olympic silver medallist Tom Mitchell returned to the School last Saturday to talk to Year 13 students about life beyond Worth as part of our annual Moving On event.
Former Head Boy Tom captained the Great Britain rugby sevens team to silver at the Rio Olympics in 2016 and skippered the side again for the Tokyo Games in 2021. He spoke to current Worth students about how he became a professional rugby player after finishing at Oxford University, having not been sure of what career path to follow. Tom, who currently works as a motivational speaker, then took questions from students.
Another former Worth student, Melissa Torkizadeh, was also at the Moving On to talk about studying Medicine at university, about becoming a junior doctor and about her recent Global Action Award which helped fund volunteering work in the A&E Department of the Western Regional Hospital in Pokhara, Nepal.
The event was designed to prepare our Year 13 students for university and the next steps in life. It included a student finance talk plus information about what to do on exam results day.
