New workshop for new year

Worth School

Worth is delighted to be opening a new Design and Technology workshop as part of the School’s programme of development as interest in the subject continues to grow.

Design and Technology is a compulsory subject for all pupils in Years 7 to 9, introducing the boys and girls to a range of practical and theoretical skills and knowledge. It is also an increasingly popular subject choice for GCSE and A Level.

Studying Design and Technology offers an insight into a range of potential career opportunities, including product, graphic, interior and furniture design, architecture, engineering, computer gaming design and web design.

In addition to the academic curriculum, students can also choose Design and Technology as a co-curricular activity, where games, design and construction challenges are combined to produce aerodynamic gliders and remote-controlled racing cars.

Work on the new workshop has been undertaken during the summer so that it can be used in the new academic year. This work follows the opening in July of our £2.5m Science extension which includes three new state-of-the-art classrooms, providing modern facilities for our future scientists.
