A major development from the Music examination boards this past year has been the introduction of online music examinations. For examinations in instruments and voice in particular, these examinations allow students the opportunity to have a greater focus on performing repertoire.

Worth has had a number of students who have completed online music examinations during the course of this academic year and we heartily congratulate them all on their successes. A number of students achieved the highest result of Distinction in these examinations, an outstanding achievement: Zoe Blake-James (Cello, Grade 8 Distinction) who also completed her Piano Grade 8 last academic year, Alice Blake-James (Singing, Grade 6 Distinction), Peter (Theory, Grade 5 Distinction) and Thomas Scudder (Theory, Grade 5 Distinction). All these students scored the outstanding result of over 90% in these examinations and Thomas scored one mark off 100%. We record our grateful thanks to their parents and teachers for their support to these students who in a number of cases arranged for their examinations to take place during the most recent national lockdown.

Recorded Music examinations now look to become a permanent fixture alongside those examined in person and Worth has a good number of students currently preparing for examinations in both formats this term. The Music Department will continue to support students preparing for both formats in the future.
