Marvellous term of music continues

Worth School

A busy term for music at Worth continued with an excellent Informal Drums and Guitar Concert in the Coleburt Room last Friday.

This was the latest in a series of informal concerts, which allow students to perform in front of family members in a supportive environment. The last in the series this academic year will be an Informal Strings Concert on Friday 2 May.

This term already we have had the Worth Musician of the Year semi-finals, House Bands, our annual Scholars’ Concert, the termly Ensembles Concert in the Abbey Church and the Chamber Choir sang Choral Evensong at Chichester Cathedral. There has also been Live Lounge, where students perform to their peers, and an Informal Woodwind and Brass Concert.

Looking ahead, the Schola Cantorum will lead the Lenten service of Tenebrae in the Abbey Church on Thursday 3 April and the annual Summer Concert will take place on Speech Day on Saturday 24 May.

The Music department also runs a biennial music tour overseas and this summer there will be a Choir, Orchestra and Bands tour to Lake Garda in Italy in the summer.

We were also delighted to hear in February that former student Oli Jacobs – now a producer, mixer and engineer – had won his third Grammy Award for his work on Peter Gabriel’s album i/o.
