If you are looking for your next book to read, one of our Year 8 pupils has recommended an excellent suggestion through our ‘Book of the Month’ initiative.
The idea of the Library’s ‘Book of the Month’ initiative is to promote a love of reading within the School, with pupils across all year groups encouraged to nominate their favourite reads as recommendations to their peers.
This month’s winning ‘Book of the Month’ nomination comes from Year 8 pupil Azarin Jalaei who has chosen Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. Azarin said: “Where the Crawdads Sing tells the story of a girl called Kya who, after being abandoned by her family, is forced to raise herself in isolation with a little help from her neighbours Jumpin’ and his wife Mabel. Known by locals as the ‘Marsh girl’ a boy named Tate slowly gains her trust but when the village golden boy, Chase Andrews, dies and his death is deemed suspicious all eyes turn to Kya. With many twists and turns in the book you never know what’s next and that’s why I like Where the Crawdads Sing.”
Congratulations to Azarin on her winning nomination.
