A Level success stories 2024

Wed, Sep 11th, 2024
Worth School

Among another pleasing set of A Level results for Worth this summer, we were able to celebrate a good number of students who achieved straight A* and A grades across the board.

At Worth we celebrate all achievements and we were delighted this summer to see a marked increase in the percentage of grades being awarded at A*-B, while most students had their places confirmed at some of the world’s leading universities.

However, achieving straight A* and A grades across all subjects is a particularly special achievement. In the first of a series of articles, we spoke to four students about their results, how Worth helped them, their time at the School and their plans for the future.

Please look out for more exam success case studies over the next two weeks and well done to all of our Class of 2024 for their achievements.

How did Worth help you achieve those results? My subject teachers played a big part in helping me achieve my grades. They were always very supportive and encouraging in lessons. Extra revision sessions and clinics were a huge help as well. My school Tutor and House staff also played a big role in supporting me throughout the exam period.

How much have you enjoyed your time at Worth? I have really enjoyed my time at Worth. Since joining in Year 12 I have made amazing friends and memories, especially in my boarding house St Mary’s. I will forever be grateful for my time at Worth and the opportunities provided to me.

How did Worth help you achieve those results? I was provided with many opportunities to achieve my very best whilst attending Worth with the Spencer Building being a huge help in allowing me to focus on my revision in a silent, calm environment. Furthermore, my teachers always pushed me to challenge myself as well as taking time out of their day to provide thorough revision sessions during study leave and for that I am grateful

How much have you enjoyed your time at Worth? My time at Worth has been unforgettable and it is safe to say I am going to miss it very much. I enjoyed it so much, especially my time spent with my friends and am grateful for all of the opportunities and experience I was presented with throughout my Worth journey.

How did you feel when you got your results? I was very relieved to get my results and pleased to have surpassed the grade requirements for my first choice university.

How did Worth help you achieve those results? The teachers provided extra revision sessions and detailed feedback on my work, which helped me identify and address my weaknesses. Additionally, the school’s structured study environment and access to comprehensive resources, such as past papers and online learning tools, allowed me to practise and reinforce key concepts. My teachers were also great at marking my past papers quickly which further helped identify weaknesses.

How much have you enjoyed your time at Worth? I have greatly enjoyed my time at Worth. Joining in Year 7, I have experienced seven years of the Worth community in which I have made lifelong friends and unforgettable memories.

Which subjects did you take and what were your results? I took Maths (A*), Chemistry (A*), Physics (A) and Further Maths (A).

How did you feel when you got your results? I was extremely happy as I had a very tumultuous exam period. I got very ill with scarlet fever and had to go to the hospital and missed an exam. Overall, I was so relieved I had got through that challenging period and achieved what I needed for my first choice university.

How did Worth help you achieve those results? We had so much support leading up to the exams and really could ask anyone for help anytime we needed. All my teachers were so encouraging, offering revision clinics and much needed advice. The added space of the Spencer Building was also extremely helpful and a great place to motivate you to study. Personally, I have to give credit to the exams office, who were so reassuring during my exams when I was unwell, advising me what to do and telling me not to overwork or overthink what I was doing.

How much have you enjoyed your time at Worth? I have been at Worth since Year 7 so I have really been able to enjoy all they have to offer. The large variety of extracurricular options provide a needed break from the stress that can come from academics. From taking part in the orchestra, choir and even participating in some musicals, I have been able to make so many fantastic memories. Through my time spent here I have got to know my teachers quite well and will definitely miss the good times we would have in classes.

What are you hoping to do next? My next step will be going to Imperial College London to read Chemical Engineering. In the future I’m hoping to further explore Chemical Engineering and use it to contribute to a sustainable environment.
