Spirit of students hailed in assembly
Students have been hailed for their sporting spirit after the School’s first – and hopefully only – Isolation Sports Day.
With the annual Sports Day unable to take place in its normal format, Worth held an Isolation Sports Day in the week before half-term with students encouraged to take part at home in a choice of 14 different events. The uptake was terrific with 431 pupils taking part and three competing in all 14 events.
In the first assembly of the second half of the Summer Term, Director of Sport Mr David Burton revealed the winners and also presented a ‘Spirit of Isolation Sports Day’ trophy to the House with the biggest percentage of students taking part, which was Austin House.
Speaking in assembly, Mr Burton said: “It was fantastic to see so many getting involved, the uptake was brilliant. While there were some competitions within ISD, it was far more about having a go at events and getting involved than the actual results and performances. That said there were some incredible performances from many students and some staff.”
