Historic moment for Worth sport

Worth School

There was an historic moment for sport at Worth this week as our first ever inter-school boys’ lacrosse match took place – and it resulted in a win.

Lacrosse at Worth is growing at a fast rate under the guidance of David McColl, a Level 2 coach and umpire who has coached on the England Lacrosse talent pathway and who is the lead for development at SEWLA (South East Women’s Lacrosse Association).

We have been fielding girls’ representative teams for a while now and they have been improving year on year, with some of our girls now playing club lacrosse outside of the School. We have also given all students the opportunity to experience playing lacrosse this year by introducing it as a sport in our new internal sport competition, the Worth Community Trophy.

Boys have been able to access training this academic year but Wednesday was the first time we had fielded a team against another school and it was a successful day as Reading School provided excellent opposition, with Worth winning 7-3.
