It has been great to see all 10 Houses at Worth challenge themselves and learn new skills in a high-quality House debating competition.
This annual competition has been taking place over the past couple of weeks and we are now at the semi-final stage which is being contested by the five first round winners – Gervase, Rutherford, St Anne’s, St Mary’s and Farwell, who have won the competition for the past two years.
While the other five Houses did not make it through to the semi-finals, they should be congratulated for some excellent debates.
The grand final takes place next Friday, 3 February, judged by guest judges, in the Performing Arts Centre.
Debating teaches many skills including presentation through effective speech composition and delivery, structure and organising thoughts, improving critical thinking, listening, teamwork and improving confidence.
We run a Debating Society at Worth for Senior and Middle School students, in addition to the House debating competition.
