Helpful trip for Sixth Form students

Students on the Year 12 IB German A Literature course visited the Rose Theatre in Kington to see a performance of Animal Farm, which was based on George Orwell’s novel of the same name.

The book title in German is ‘Farm der Tiere’ and these students are studying it in translation as part of their course.

Having had the chance to watch this performance has helped students to deepen their understanding of the plot and made them see how dictatorships are using propaganda and ‘fake news’ to propel themselves into power. This visit has also encouraged discussions on how literary works can be adapted for the stage.

The trip was accompanied by Mrs Beadle and Mrs Moiseiwitsch, and all agreed this was extremely helpful to the students as they work towards their final exams.

German is a course option at Worth for GCSE, A Level and the IB Diploma. All pupils study German in Year 9.
