A golden day at the Palace

Worth School

Two former Worth students met and spoke with HRH Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, as they received their Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award last week.

Sisters Ellie and Lexie Chadd were guests at Buckingham Palace to celebrate their achievement and they flew the flag for the School with a Worth umbrella. It was lovely to mark the occasion in the Palace Gardens with tea and cake, despite the rain.

The Gold Award is the pinnacle of the DofE scheme. Worth is proud to be a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Directly Licensed Centre, which allows us to run and approve Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. The Award is extremely popular at Worth and in recent times we have had the highest achievement rate among independent schools in the South-East region.

Earlier this week, Year 9 pupils took part in their Bronze Expedition Practice Day, as our additional pictures show. At the end of the Summer Term, pupils will be going on Gold, Silver and Bronze qualifying expeditions.
