Games staff complete remarkable challenge

Worth School

Congratulations to our fabulous Games department who completed a remarkable challenge in the first half of this term.

At the beginning of the Lent Term staff worked out how far Worth teams travelled last year to all of the School’s away fixtures and challenged themselves to run, walk, cycle or row that distance before half term. The target distance was 2,092km with the department managing to cover 2,235km by the end of half term.

It is great to see our Games staff setting such a great example – one which has been followed by our pupils. At the start of term Director of Sport Mr David Burton set a number of challenges as part of the online Games programme but also as a means of keeping fit, trying something new, stepping out of one’s comfort zone and raising money for charity in the process. Among them were running the distance of a marathon in a month; a 112-mile bike ride, which is the distance of the cycling section of a full Ironman triathlon; and a challenge to complete 2,000 burpees in two weeks. Lots of pupils have been taking part in these challenges.
