Congratulations to former Head Boy, James Longman, now Foreign Correspondent for ABC News, who has won the prestigious David Bloom Award at the 2020 Radio and TV Correspondents’ Association Awards in the US, for his investigative reporting on LGBT abuses in Chechyna.

The 15th annual David Bloom Award is for excellence in investigative or feature reporting in honour of the memory of the late David Bloom, correspondent and anchor at NBC News. The award recognises a journalist who has exhibited courage in their commitment to staying fresh and daring in their reporting under strenuous circumstances.

James has had an amazing career to date, first joining the BBC as Beirut Correspondent and then general news reporter. Since joining ABC News in 2017 he was the first US network reporter at the Thai cave where the football team went missing and the first to interview them after their rescue. From terror attacks in Sri Lanka, protests in Hong Kong, climate change in Antarctica, or earthquakes in Indonesia – and even a royal tour with Harry and Meghan around Australasia – James has covered it.
