Fencers enjoy an excellent win

Well done to our mixed U18A fencing team who enjoyed an excellent win at home to Eastbourne College on Saturday.

This followed another victory, also against Eastbourne, in October and sets up the team nicely for another three fixtures in February.

Fencing has a rich history at Worth, where it is offered as part of the sports programme and as a co-curricular activity.

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, two former Worth students were part of the Great Britain fencing squad. Nick Bell helped the men’s foil team finish sixth overall, as well as finishing 39th in the individual competition. Tim Belson finished 39th in the men’s épée individual competition and ninth in the team event. Nick also went on to compete in the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.
