Boys and girls join Worth either at ages 11+ (Year 7), at 13+ (Year 9) or at 16+ (Year 12). Worth also admits a small number of pupils at age 15+ (Year 11) into a one-year IGCSE/Pre-IB course, and a few places occasionally become available for boys and girls for admission at age 12+ (Year 8) or at 14+ (Year 10). Yes. Visitors are warmly welcomed at Worth and families are encouraged to visit several times. Worth offers a choice of opportunities to see the School throughout the year including private visits where each family is met individually. These visits enable parents and children to have a detailed, bespoke tour of the School campus, while meeting pupils and teaching staff. The Head and other senior staff are also available to meet parents when requested. Parents living overseas or unable to come on a private visit are encouraged to join an individual Virtual Tour. Worth School celebrated another year of impressive GCSE results in 2026, with pupils achieving strong outcomes across the full range of subjects. Overall, 40% of GCSEs were awarded at grades 9-8 (A*), 58% at grades 9-7 (A*-A) and 96% at grades 9-4 (A*-C). More than two-thirds of all GCSEs in a broad range of subjects, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English Literature, History, Art and Drama, were awarded at grades 9-7.

Many individual pupils have achieved exceptional results. 33% of pupils averaged a grade 8 (A*) or higher across their GCSE subjects, with several securing between eight and 10 grade 9s. 57% of pupils averaged a grade 7 (A) or above across their subjects. In addition, the Value-Add average for the whole cohort was +0.83 grades.

Similarly, the A Level, IB Diploma and BTEC results were also impressive with 21% of students achieved A*, 53% A*-A and 76% A*-B.

Worth is one of the UK’s leading schools for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, with 20 years’ experience and an excellent record of results, with a 10-year average of 36 points including many achieving more than 40 points, which is equivalent to 4 A* grades at A Level. Up to one half of Worth Sixth Form students study the IB Diploma, which was first introduced at the School in 2002.

Worth students have a strong tradition of entrance to the most competitive universities in the UK and Europe, Canada and the USA. These include Oxbridge and Russell Group universities. Numbers will vary each year. We are able to offer individualised university guidance and support to all students. Those aiming to go to Cambridge University or Oxford University will be mentored by staff members who have been to Oxbridge themselves.

We offer flexi options for boys and girls in Year 9 onwards subject to availability. Flexi boarding for boys is in a dedicated House, Butler, while girls join St Mary’s House.

To ensure the 7-day-a-week full boarding experience, including our wonderful weekends activities programme, we offer full boarding or flexi boarding rather than weekly boarding. Pupils still have the option to return to the family home at weekends if they wish, subject to Saturday commitments in the School, fixtures and it not being a ‘closed’ weekend, but we encourage all pupils to fully participate in the full boarding experience, including our wide-ranging weekends programme.

Yes. Families can choose the schooling experience that best suits their needs – from day pupil places to full boarding (seven nights a week), as well as flexi boarding options to support busy schedules and longer commutes. We also warmly welcome international students for short stays of one or two terms, offering the opportunity to fully experience an English education within our vibrant school community. Children can board from Year 9. We have one girls’ Boarding House and three boys’ Boarding Houses. We do not offer boarding in Years 7 and 8 but children can join as day pupils for those years and then board from Year 9. From Year 9, we also offer flexi boarding for boys and girls subject to availability.

In the senior school, the ratio is about 50/50 day pupils and boarders. Austin House, our Junior House, is day pupils only.

Absolutely. Day pupils are fully engaged in the life of Worth School, including all activities on offer for boarders in the evening and at the weekend if they wish. Whether it be classes, activities, societies or sports, all avenues of Worth life provide an opportunity for day and boarding pupils to integrate.

Most of our pupils live in London and the South East of England and a number come from other parts of the UK. About a quarter of the pupils at Worth are from overseas, most coming from the countries of Western Europe, and a handful from Central America, South America and Asia.

We have about 60% boys and 40% girls. We have three boys’ boarding Houses, two boys’ day Houses, plus Butler House which is a day and flexi boarding House. For girls, we have one boarding House and two day Houses.

We have about 530 pupils at Worth. Exact numbers will change each year but currently we have approximately 120 pupils in Year 13, 110 in Year 12, 100 in each of Year 11 and 10, 60 in Year 9 and 50 in the Junior School in Years 7 and 8.

Scholarships are awarded for Academic, Art, Design and Technology, Drama, Music or Sport. Only Academic awards are available to pupils entering Worth in Year 7. Pupils are encouraged to apply for further awards in Art, Design and Technology, Drama, Music and Sport, or Academic, whilst in Year 8. For all types of scholarships, awards can range in value (but typically up to 5% of the value of the day school fees) and a candidate may also hold one or more awards. We recognise that education has the power to transform lives and we regularly offer eligible parents/guardians means-tested financial support with the payment of school fees. Such support is known as a bursary and these may be awarded in the form of a discount on tuition fees payable, depending on the financial, compassionate or other pertinent circumstances of applicants. Each boarding and day House is under the leadership of a Housemaster or Housemistress who, supported by their deputy, has overall responsibility for the pupils’ pastoral care and welfare. In addition, every pupil is assigned a personal tutor with whom they meet at least twice a week, and very often more than this, to review and support their academic progress, and every House also has a Chaplain and a Matron who manages the domestic affairs of the House and who also provides further invaluable pastoral support.

No. Worth is a Catholic school but it is also a diverse community with pupils and staff from a wide array of church backgrounds and other religions or none.

We believe that our values provide a firm foundation for education which, without it, could be reduced to a mere set of skills to be applied to the workaday world instead of the formation of mind and spirit that will prepare young people for a fulfilled and happy life. Such values are fundamental to the formation of who we become as people, which is why we place them at the centre of the education at Worth. The six values by which pupils and staff live their everyday lives at Worth are: community, humility, service, silence, stewardship, worship.

The day has nine periods from 8.45am until 5.25pm, including lunch. Therefore, eight periods are taught periods. After two lessons, there is a 25-minute break, then a further two periods, followed by lunch, a further two periods followed by afternoon break, a final period and enrichment, followed by the end of the school day. Games and activities are interwoven into the timetable. Pupils of all ages take part in activities one afternoon, and clubs and societies at least twice a week. There is also a programme of evening enrichment.

Worth operates a fleet of minibuses to transport day pupils to and from school, covering a wide area of Sussex, Surrey and Kent. Pupils from London (Victoria/Clapham Junction train stations) are met by a minibus at Three Bridges station, which is four miles away. The bus drivers collect/drop back from set locations, rather than door-to-door. Specific requests and further questions can be directed to the transport manager Luke Lynch at llynch@worth.org.uk

Worth enjoys being a phone-free campus. Years 7 and 8 mobile phones are handed in to the Housemaster during the school day. Years 9, 10 and 11 secure their phones in Yondr pouches. If mobile phones are found to be in use during the school day, the pupil will be sanctioned. Pupils in Years 12 and 13 have a responsibility to ensure that phones remain out of sight and not causing any distraction throughout the school day. Years 9 and 10 boarders hand in their phones overnight. During the day boarders may temporarily unlock their phone in House if there is a need to contact home.

The core philosophy of the Music department at Worth is the balance of inclusion with excellence and the fostering of a welcoming musical community open to all. There are numerous opportunities for all to get involved in activities ranging from, for example, the Schola Cantorum to the Concert Band, from the Symphony Orchestra to live lounge rock and to performing in school musical productions. Worth has long had a reputation for sporting excellence, with our pupils achieving representative regional and international honours, as well as Junior World Championship and European, Commonwealth and Olympic medals. In recent years, we have been able to celebrate a number of sports achievements, both as a school and achievements by pupils at the School. Yes, both. Girls’ football is thriving and we run five representative sides from U13s up to U18s. Girls can play rugby sevens at Worth and our rugby girls compete in the National Sevens each year, progressing to the second day of competition for three years in a row.
