Drama excellence: Watch this short movie

Worth School

Our Drama students continue to set high standards with the projects they are working on including a fabulous short movie written and directed by a current Year 9 student.

The national lockdown and restrictions since the re-opening of schools has meant the Drama department has not been able to put on their normal productions in the Performing Arts Centre. However, there has still been lots going on.

The Austin Drama Club has completed the BBC adapted of Macbeth and turned it into a screen play, Sixth Form students have been creating a series of episodes of Pride and Prejudice, a group of Year 10 students preparing for a performance of DNA which is a set text for GCSE Drama and the Year 7 and 8 Drama Club is now working on a short performance of the Lion King.

In addition, last year current Year 9 student Will Tarpey won the Young Person’s Scriptwriting Challenge and the prize was to direct a version of his play titled ‘Can you keep a secret?’ once we were back in school in September. Will was able to turn his play into a short movie starring the Year 9 Drama scholars and it is a fabulous piece of work which you can watch here.
