Debating team perform well again

Worth School

Congratulations to Worth’s senior debating team who performed superbly in the regional final of the Ethics Cup.

This is a competition in which Worth were crowned national champions last year, having finished third in the regional final. Worth finished third again in a high-quality competition but, with only two schools progressing this year, it was not enough to reach the national final again.

The Worth team only dropped one match all day, which was to Eton College by one point in the semi-finals which shows how well our debaters did. Our students won both debates in the morning, beating Bentley Wood and Lady Eleanor Holles schools to reach the semi-finals. Then in the third-place play-off Worth overcame Ark Globe Academy to secure third place for the second year in a row.

Debating thrives at Worth, with a string of successes in recent times and we are currently looking forward to taking part in the regional final of the English-Speaking Union competition for the first time, having defeated Brighton College in the second round.

We run both a Senior Debating Society and a Middle School Debating Society.
