A team of three Worth students performed superbly to qualify for the regional finals of the English-Speaking Union MACE Debating Competition and are now just one step away from the national finals.

In their second round match on Monday against a strong team from Oxford International College, Brighton, the Worth team was triumphant and received incredibly positive feedback from the panel of four judges in the process.

This is only the second time Worth has reached the regional finals and they will now have the chance to progress as one of four schools to the national finals in May.

Head of English Mrs Dawn Clubb, who runs the Debating Society at Worth, said: “They did an incredible job. I am so proud of them for how they spoke and how they represented the School.”

Yesterday Worth sent another team to compete in the regional round of the Oxford Schools’ Debating Competition and we will also be competing in the Cambridge Schools’ Debating Competition on Saturday 7 February.
