A number of debating successes were celebrated at the end of last term with the presentation of Debating Society ties and pins.

The Lent Term was particularly successful for Worth’s Debating Society, including winning Hartland International Debating Competition, performing extremely well at both the Oxford and Cambridge Schools’ debating competitions and two of our students winning awards for Best Chairperson and Best Opposer at the regional final of the Youth Speaks competition, organised by the Rotary Club.

In addition, Worth got to the semi-finals of the Ethics Cup and only missed out on a place in the national final on points countback after a tied match.

During the term, a number of students were involved in debating competitions for the first time, alongside more experienced debaters.

At the final assembly of the Lent Term Debating Society ties – the highest honour presented by the School to debaters – and Debating Society pins were presented to 16 students.

Well done to all students who represented the Debating Society during the Lent Term.

In the Summer Term we will be hosting an All-Stars Charity Debate involving teachers and students.
