It has been a hugely successful term for Worth’s Debating Society, reaching the regional finals of the English-Speaking Union Schools’ Mace competition and the quarter-finals of the Elite International Debating Competition.
The Society has been reintroduced after the absence of a number of years and Head of English, Mrs Dawn Clubb, could not be more pleased with the progress the students have made. Having won through a previous round against schools in China, Worth’s progress in the online Elite International Debating Competition ended at the quarter-final stage just before the end of term.
However, the Society has much to look forward to. An inter-House competition for the Debating Cup has been planned for the Summer Term at Worth, while preparations have also begun for the Oxford Schools’ Debating Competition and next year’s ESU Schools’ Mace competition.
The Debating Society is one of the many academic enrichment and co-curricular opportunities available at Worth. For more about what we offer click here.
