Congratulations to these three boys who have been chosen as our 1st XI cricket senior leadership team for the 2026 season.
Charlie Grant has been appointed limited overs captain, Daniel Burton is all-day game captain and Daniel Flint is ‘senior pro’. Last week Daniel Burton, who is in the Sussex Pathway, featured in a pre-season match between Sussex and Kent. He was loaned out to Kent for the day as Sussex wanted to face a left arm seam bowler and bowled five overs for 23 runs which is pretty good for a First Class standard game.
These three students will lead Worth into a programme of fixtures which includes annual matches against Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and Sussex Martlets. The 2026 programme also includes a tour which involves taking part in the Emeriti Schools Festival. The season will begin with an annual friendly on Saturday 18 April against First Class Cricket Academy, which is run by Worth’s Head of Cricket Mr Raj Chaudhuri and is based at the School.
In 2025, 1st XI captain George McLoughlin was taken on by the Surrey Academy while our U15A team won the Blackshaw Cup and the 1st XI reached the final of the Langdale Division Two Cup.
Worth has a proud record of producing male and female crickets who have gone on to play for district, regional and county sides. Claudie Cooper, who now plays for Yorkshire County Cricket Club, was recently bought by Sunrisers Leeds in The Hundred auction.
The additional pictures show Daniel in action in the Sussex versus Kent game and Claudie playing for Yorkshire.
